Welcome to Rainier Middle School Counseling Center!

We are available to assist students with their academic, career, and social-emotional development.

Counseling  services are an essential part of education for all students. Our vision is to create an environment where students are supported and encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and life-long goals. Our mission is to utilize our unique knowledge and skills to advocate for students; validate their experiences; assist in academic and career planning; and encourage the effort it requires to reach their full potential in school and beyond.

  • Support of classroom career education
  • Crisis intervention
  • Monitor grades
  • Financial assistance referrals/concerns
  • Support groups for a variety of concerns such as grief, divorce, peer relationships, etc.

Our Student Support Team:PK Deusen - Student Interventions
Ms. Deusen provides a variety of supports including (but certainly not limited to!) - scheduling, new student orientation, behavior support, & high school and beyond planning.

Sammi Firman - School Counselor 
Ms.Sammi also serves as the school counselor at the elementary school. My goal as a school counselor is to advocate for students and help them achieve their academic, career, and personal/social goals. I believe that ALL kids are capable of success - and I will do all that I can to help students see that too!
